Permanently closed!The 9th Floor Restaurant & Bar on the top floor of the Sky Inn Condotel off Rat-U-Thit Road in Patong is a hidden treasure dedicated to the enjoyment of fine food, with an excellent wine cellar, beautiful, well-trained waitresses and a warm, elegant ambience reminiscent of a sophisticated members club.
For those who know it, the 9th Floor is consistently rated as one of Phuket's very finest dining establishments;..a discreet gem of elegance and good taste to be shared with friends who then return over and over again.
The crowd is international and sophisticated with accents and languages from around the globe contributing to the exciting buzz of conversation and energy that embraces you as the elevator doors open into the restaurant's top floor space. The 9th Floor is the highest restaurant in Patong and it's fair to say that the excellence of its food matches the loftiness of its location.
Entering the restaurant, one step from the elevator into an alluring space in which floor to ceiling glass windows overlook the myriad lights of Patong below with the Andaman Sea beyond. The walls are decorated with funky modern art; wine glasses glimmer in the soft lighting and the beautiful black-clad waitresses slide sensually between the tables looking after the guests every need.
Sunset is a favourite time for the cognoscenti to be at the convivial bar sipping their favourite tipple from the huge range of cocktails, beers and wines, enjoying the international ambience and conversation, and anticipating the gustatory pleasures that the evening will unfold.
Of course creating a great restaurant starts with the food and here the 9th Floor excels. The menu features an eclectic award-winning selection of Mediterranean, Alpine and Thai dishes all of which use the finest local and imported ingredients and are cooked and served to perfection.
Fondue and Raclette are well-loved Alpine specialities that reflect the heritage of the hospitable resident manager Bart Duykers, who is always on hand to welcome new guests, or greet the huge number of frequently returning loyalists who call the 9th Floor their favourite restaurant in Phuket.
The wine cellar is comprehensive with a great choice of both European and New World classics, plus plenty of up-and-coming labels from the developing wine regions. Prices for both the food and wines are very reasonable and of course excellent wines are also available by the glass should one for some bizarre reason not wish to enjoy a full bottle! Rounding off the chubbiness of the 9th Floor's appeal is the fine selection of cigars.
