Nightlife in Phuket

Phuket’s nightlife is exceptional and has earned a reputation as being one of the best destination in Southeast Asia. With its vibrant mixture of brightly lit bars, clubs hosting international DJ’s, pubs playing live music, chilled out lounge settings and relaxing beach bars, you’ll find that the immense amount of variety makes this tropical island second to none.

Patong, without a doubt, is the main party town on the island and has gained a rather wild rep when it comes to the art of partying, boasting several discos and literally hundreds of bars. Bangla Road is full of little side streets, known as sois in Thai, that are packed full of bars, many of which are within themed plazas. Make sure to come with an open mind as you’ll see all sorts of crazy antics taking place.

Head north to the town of Kamala for a less hedonistic atmosphere where you’ll find plenty of pubs, which also serve food that are popular with locals and expats alike. Further north, in Surin you’ll come across trendy venues and restaurants that offer style and sophistication, most of which can be found along Soi Haad Surin 8.

Phuket Town is the place to go for a choice of atmospheres that include venues with live bands, as well as stylish lounge settings. Most of these venues are housed in small renovated Sino-Portuguese buildings.

Kata’s beach town atmosphere and assortment of bars, cafés and al-fresco dining venues make it suitable for families, as well as those wanting to party.

Rawai and Nai Harn have also gained a reputation as being great places for a night out. Packed full of bars, some stand-alone and others within plaza-type complexes, it also boasts two popular nightclubs that stay open late which attract a large expat and local crowd.
